The Vision
Operation Gideon purposes to surround Greece with evangelistic teams on 80 Greek islands to break centuries of spiritual bondage through prayer, literature distribution and proclamation evangelism.
 Primary Focus: As Gideon surrounded the Midianite camp in Judges 7 with torches of light, “Operation Gideon” aims to release the light of the gospel throughout Greece during the Olympic Games. Our primary focus will be the Greek Islands and Olympic host cities.
Other Opportunities: Other outreach highlights will include opportunities to serve with Christians from around the world in Olympic venue locations in cooperation with “More than Gold ”. Also there will be a final "Worship Fest" celebration in Athens. You may also choose to be involved in follow-up efforts after the Olympics in September.
Prayer: For spiritual change to occur in Greece, a global prayer initiative is needed. Through your participation in Operation Gideon (the largest-ever coordinated outreach effort to the Greek nation) we hope for an unprecedented spiritual awakening.
Local Church Driven: Key to Operation Gideon is its design with the local church in mind. Churches and groups can spiritually adopt one of 80 targeted Greek islands for outreach.
Teams, Outreach & Follow-up: Churches and individuals from around the world can accept this challenge by sending one or more teams of 5-8 people during Operation Gideon to their adopted island(s). The sending church can then support their team through prayer, giving and creative ministry partnership with Greek Churches and Christians to ensure follow-up after the Olympics.
